berry mojito

the berries are back

While I love a classic mojito, the only thing that makes it even better is muddling some fresh berries along with the mint. My favorite thing about this cocktail is how fresh and refreshing it is. It goes down super easy on a warm day, and it’s so fun for big backyard gatherings. I also just love the color that smashed raspberries and blackberries add to this drink. You can always get creative and add different types of berries or fruit, including strawberries and blueberries. The most important thing about mojitos, though, is making sure you use super fresh mint and fresh lime juice. None of that bottled crap! Round it out with a decent white rum, and you have yourself a cocktail. Cheers!

instructions

Divide raspberries and blackberries between 2 tall glasses. Add mint to each glass.

Add the lime juice, rum, and sugar.

Use a muddler to muddle the berries and mint, until they form a thick pulp at the bottom of each glass.

Fill each glass with ice cubes, and top with seltzer water.

Garnish with fresh mint and a slice of lime.

⟶ make it a big batch

  • If you’re serving a large group, you can quadruple this recipe, muddle the mint, and place all ingredients besides the seltzer water in a large pitcher filled about 1/2 of the way with ice. Top it with the seltzer, and give it a few stirs before serving

⟶ make it a mocktail!

  • You can definitely make this a mocktail by skipping the rum and adding some extra lime juice and seltzer water
