blueberry smoothie

SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, EVERYBODY!

Okay, not those kinds of shots…

Sometimes you want a smoothie but you’re in a hurry and just don’t have time to drink a full one. And I highly do NOT recommend chugging a smoothie, ‘cause brain freeze. Ouch. Or you’re not really that hungry and just want a quick booster to kickstart your day.

Well, I have a solution for both of those problems: smoothie shots!

It’s such a simple thing, I don’t know why I haven’t thought of it before. Sometimes I really do just get stuck with a giant smoothie, and I don’t know how to drink it all. These personal smoothie doses are easy to down in just a few minutes, and they leave you feeling nourished as if you just had a small breakfast.

This recipe yields four smoothie shots (or one full smoothie), so if you want just one personal shot, quarter the recipe for your little itty bitty dose.

toss it all in the blender

Here’s what you’ll need for this yummy, fruity smoothie treat:

Banana A banana is a great fruit to add to a smoothie. It gives the smoothie some “meat” and makes it more filling. Plus it has a more neutral flavor, so it won’t interfere with the other ingredients

Frozen blueberries You can use frozen or fresh here. But I always seem to have bags of frozen blueberries, because every time I buy I giant box of fresh blueberries I can’t finish the whole thing! So in the freezer they go…

Frozen pineapple You can use fresh here as well, but I would recommend using frozen for either the blueberries or the pineapple. Or else your smoothie won’t be as cold and will turn out runny

Almond milk Up to you what kind of milk you use, but this is one of my favorites for smoothies for its more neutral flavor

Sunflower seeds I always try to add some extra protein or healthy fats to my smoothies, and sunflower seeds pack in both of those things

All you need are those five things to make a delicious smoothie or four small drinkable portions. So without further ado, cups in the air, EVERYBODY LET’S TAKE SHOTS.

instructions

Add all ingredients to a blender, and blend until smooth. Add more almond milk as needed until you’ve reached the desired consistency.

⟶ recipe notes

  • I would recommend adding more almond milk than less, as a more liquidy consistency is easier to drink in small doses

⟶ modifications

  • As always, you can substitute another type of milk for the almond milk. I personally like almond, because it doesn’t add too much additional flavor, but coconut, oat, hemp, etc. all work just as well!

⟶ store it

  • You know what’s fun to do with leftover smoothie? Freeze it! It won’t be super appealing if you just put int in a jar in the refrigerator, because it will probably separate or take on a weird consistency. But if you freeze it, you can either defrost it later, add some milk or water to make it liquid again, or it’ll be a yummy frozen treat for later
